Top Notes/Head Notes
Top notes adalah lapisan pertama aroma yang pertama kali tercium saat Anda menyemprotkan parfum. Aroma ini biasanya 5 menit pertama dan hilang digantikan aroma selanjutnya.

Middle (Heart) Notes
Middle Notes adalah lapisan aroma kedua yang muncul, 10-30 menit setelah top notes hadir. Aroma di middle notes ini adalah aroma yang menentukan jenis aroma apa sebuah parfum dikelompokkan.

Base Notes/dry-down
Base notes adalah lapisan aroma ketiga atau terakhir yang muncul setelah middle notes dan saat aroma top notes menghilang, ini juga merupakan aroma yang bertahan paling lama dari sebuah parfum, berjam-jam setelah disemprot pertama kali. Maka base notes adalah pembentuk utama dry-down, aroma yang tertinggal setelah Anda memakai parfum.

Jadi tidak bisa kalau cium parfum hanya saat semprotan pertama harus tau sampai akhir biar tau aroma akhirnya.
